Short history of beer:

Jacob Christian Jacobsen founded the Carlsberg brewery in 1847 after the name of his son Carl. The brewery was established in Valby one of the ten Copenhagen districts. Before he will start with his own brewery he traveled around the Europe to learn the best brewing technology and to find the perfect yeast. When he returned from the journey he had a clear idea that the brewing process has to be industrialized and based on scientific methods. In order to improve brewing technology and quality of beer he founded Carlsberg Lab what was a major impetus for development of Carlsberg Group as it is today. Nowadays, Carlsberg beer has a near monopoly in Denmark and along with Tuborg is the most famous Danish beer worldwide. In 2009, Carlsberg Group was the 4th largest brewery group in the world.
